Sherman Oaks School was opened in 1924, in the same location it now resides. However, over the years, the school has expanded its facilities, and has educated many different grades along the way.

Many alumni like to return to the school and share how it was when they were there. For example, the Main Office, currently on the south side of the campus on Greenleaf Street, used to be housed on the north side of campus on Dickens Street. Also, some parents who have enrolled their own children in the school, tell how they even attended the school for a brief stint for middle school grades (while middle school spaces were under construction elsewhere). Now, Sherman Oaks is home to children in Kindergarten through Grade 5.

To this day, the school prides itself on its academic excellence, emphasis on creativity and exploration, and its rich cultural diversity, populated with children who grow up to be confident leaders in the modern world.
