The arts are abundant and lively at Sherman Oaks. Below are the many programs offered during the regular school day:

Music
Each child receives professional music instruction every week. This program is choral based, and emphasizes music theory and musical performance. LAUSD provides us with our teacher one day per week, and SOPA provides her for 3 additional days so every child gets musical enrichment.

Chorus
Sherman Oaks enjoys a proud tradition of an upper grade chorus, performing several times on campus and throughout town.

Art Explorers
A specialized visual arts class. Every child in Grades 1-5 gets this specialized instruction every week, learning art history and technique, studying over 125 of our world's artists and styles during their time at Sherman Oaks. This program is completely funded by SOPA.

Arts Cadre
Dance, drama, and visual arts. Each class covers theory, technique, and expression through performance in its respective discipline. This program is delivered through a state arts grant. Click HERE to learn more about the Arts Cadre Program.

In Classroom
The above are specialized programs offered in addition to lively arts activities in each classroom, guided by the teachers and parent volunteers, such as class plays, music performances, and class talent shows.

Super School
After school electives are offered in three 10-week sessions. These classes are offered for nominal fees, and offer arts classes including drama, dance, instruments, visual arts, and on-camera fun. This after school program is overseen by SOPA.

Performances
There are many performances throughout the year, including the Winter Performance, Spring Performance, Talent Show, Street Fair Performances, and individual classroom performances.
