At Sherman Oaks Elementary we understand the importance of giving back to our community and provide many opportunities for our students, parents, and staff to get involved.

We have programs throughout the year, including the Jump Rope for Heart Event benefiting the American Heart Association, Jogathon, Beautification Day, our Thanksgiving basket drive in November, and holiday gift and toy drive in December.

We also have one day each spring designated as Sherman Oaks Cares Day.  On this day, each grade level works on a project for a specific venue with recipients including the Women’s Care Cottage, the M.E.N.D. organization (Meeting Each Need with Dignity), the Northridge Hospital, and the Gramercy Shelter. This day also culminates our annual Pennies for Patients program which benefits the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  We also host our annual Blood Drive on this day, in cooperation with the Sherman Oaks Presbyterian Church, which benefits the City of Hope.
